We brought back an Icon
From 2016-18, thousands of craft devotees backed an Ernest Wright Kickstarter campaign to bring back the Kutrite pattern of flat kitchen scissors. The campaign didn’t go to plan – but thanks to the continued support of the good people who backed the project, the craft of making scissors by hand has been allowed to flourish again at Ernest Wright. We are proud to say that at long last, we have fulfilled Nick Wright’s legacy by bringing the iconic Kutrite back into production. It looks and works even more beautifully than we dreamed it would.
If you’re reading this page, you are one of our craft’s most dedicated supporters. In recognition of your generosity to the former company and its work, we would like to offer you the Kutrite flat kitchen scissors at this discounted price. We hope you will join us in celebrating the hard-earned return of this iconic pattern. Without your support, these historic scissors would be nothing more than history.

Bringing back an icon
Remaking the Kutrite kitchen scissors has been our passion, our obsession and one of our greatest challenges in recent years. They’ve ended up being worth every drop of elbow grease.
Elegant yet practical, the ‘Kutrite’ pattern of all-purpose stainless steel kitchen scissors is a 1960s modern art masterpiece. Their form is a symphony of clean lines and soft curves – and their function is sweeter still. The Kutrite’s serrated blades make light work of meat, veg and just about anything else you might need to cut with them, while the in-built bottle/twist-cap opener and nutcracker provide extra utility.
The Kutrite pattern of flat kitchen scissors was designed by Philip Wright in the early sixties and produced till the eighties. After an absence of decades, we are proud to present the remade and remastered Kutrite kitchen scissors. Bringing back the Kutrite required all the skill and knowledge of our master-putters, and all the energies of the rest of the team. We hope you’ll agree they are scissors to cherish.
