HISTORY IN THE MAKING
HANDMADE SCISSORS FROM SHEFFIELD
Each pair of Ernest Wright scissors and shears reflects over a century of knowledge, passion and character. Seamlessly blending supreme quality into everyday use. Bought once, they’ll love you for a lifetime.
ORDERING FROM ERNEST WRIGHT
We are committed to crafting scissors and shears with perfect performance – and we must therefore put ample time and care into each pair. Due to this rigorous approach, as well as challenging world events in recent years, we don’t often have stock available for immediate purchase.
Instead, most customers will need to back-order their desired model. Once a back-order is placed, the scissors or shears are usually delivered within approx. 20 weeks.
Not all of our models are currently available on back-order. If you’re interested in an unavailable model, please email ku.oc.thgirwtsenre@ofni so that we can add you to the relevant waiting list.
Taking plenty of time to make every pair a jewel is part of what makes us Ernest Wright. It ensures that you’ll enjoy your scissors or shears all the more when they arrive.
The Heritage Crafts Association recognised our traditional craftsmanship by awarding us the inaugural HCA President’s Award for Endangered Crafts.

Preserving the art of embroidery
The UK’s globally prominent embroidery institution, the Royal School of Needlework, celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2022. We spoke to the school’s Chief Executive, Dr Susan Kay-Williams.

“We are but the two halves of a pair of scissors, when apart…
but together we are something”.
